Sports Massage
Anyone engaging in physical activity can benefit from sports massage. Don’t be fooled into thinking a sports massage is only for high-performing athletes.
Sports massage can be used before, during, or after any form of physical activity; be that an event, game or general exercise activity. By incorporating it as a part of your warm-up preparation, sports massage can help prevent and reduce injury. It can help prepare your body for action by loosening and activating muscles and tendons, facilitating and increasing blood flow through your body.
When used as a post-exercise treatment, sports massage can help the body to remove toxic build-ups such as lactic acid from the muscles. This can promote and assist your body in achieving faster recovery time, less fatigue, increased blood and lymph flow, as well as encourage good overall heart health.
Sports massage is most often associated with post-exercise soft tissue injuries, sprains and strains. Injuries can occur regardless of your sporting level, fitness or your level of exercise intensity. Trips and knocks can put you off balance leading to injury. Prompt remedial action from a Sports Trainer or First-Aider can assist in reducing symptoms. A follow up session with a sports massage practitioner can further help reduce inflammation, swelling, pain and promote recovery. Soft and deep tissue massage, stretching and Kinesiology taping can all be used to stabilise an injury and promote recovery.

Remedial Massage
Remedial massage requires the therapist to adopt a holistic approach to treating your problem. Finding out what are the underlying causes to symptoms such as tight backs, sore shoulders, stiff neck, tight muscles and other descriptions are common. Using a holistic approach, our therapists can assess the underlying problem(s), whether it’s a single muscle, a muscle group or a range of factors working together.
Often our treatments will involve deep tissue work aimed at releasing muscle fibres and connective tissue in specific areas of the body that are tight, caused by injury, stress or repetitive work. This includes using myofascial release and trigger point therapy as forms of treatment to help release contraction knots in muscles. We use techniques from sports, relaxation, lymphatic and therapeutic massages to warm up the muscles, unlock and release muscle fibres, increase blood flow and clear the lymph nodes of the wastes created. Using multiple techniques allows us to treat a variety of conditions, promoting a faster healing process.
It is a good idea to provide us with feedback during your massage session. This helps us to better target our treatment and ultimately help you.

Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage helps release muscle tension, increases blood flow bringing in fresh supplies of oxygenated blood and nutrients and helps take away toxic build-ups of lactic acid and other waste products. If we can speed up this process, particularly after exercise or in response to an injury; you recover faster and feel better more quickly than just relying on the body’s own efforts.
This type of massage uses flowing movements that stretch, warm and relax the skin tissue and underlying muscles. It is a more relaxing massage that promotes a sense of wellbeing as well as stimulating the body, increasing blood flow and aiding in drainage from the lymphatic system. During the massage, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissue are also stretched and stimulated.
Regular massages can aid in reducing stress and promote wellbeing.

Relaxation Massage
As the name suggests, these massages are all about relaxing you and your body. The techniques we use in a relaxation massage are soft and flowing movements, using gentle strokes with hands, arms and forearms. Your massage will also include gentle stretching and joint mobilisation. As you relax, light tension headaches may go away, leaving you relaxed and ready to face the world again.

Pregnancy Massage
Using a qualified therapist for your pregnancy massage is very important to ensure that both you and your developing baby are cared for safely. Our therapists are trained and accredited for providing pregnancy massages.
These massages are gentle, relaxing and can reduce tension, aches and pains, cramping and swelling associated with water retention. As a result of the massage, your blood flow is increased around the body, which improves oxygen uptake, nutrient uptake and improved elimination of toxic by-products. As a bonus, your body also releases its own endorphins, which leave you feeling refreshed and alert.

Lymphatic Massage
The lymphatic system is an incredible network of vessels containing fluid called lymph, which bathes our cells. Lymph also carries special cells that attack bacteria and viruses. It also helps to remove excess fluids and fatty materials from our bodies.
The lymphatic system also contains nodes where waste products such as dead cells and bacteria can be filtered out. There are large numbers of these filtering points in the neck, armpits and groin and they are generally called ‘Lymph Glands’. These are the glands that swell up at the first sign of sickness or illness and can be painful or cause discomfort. They are the body’s first line of defence against infections and help with cleaning up our systems by the removal of bacteria, waste material and toxins.
Unlike our blood system, the lymphatic system does not have a pump mechanism to move the fluids around our bodies. Instead, the contraction and relaxation of our muscles move the fluids around our bodies. Regular exercise and being active is very important in keeping our lymphatic system working efficiently.
If you have been inactive or recovering from illness or even experiencing reoccurring conditions like colds and sore throats, tiredness and lethargy, fluid build-up; then it may be time to have a lymphatic massage or as it is sometimes called lymphatic drainage. We use gentle movements designed to promote the flow of lymph. It is a relaxing whole-of-body treatment leaving you refreshed.
As with all our massages, we would suggest that you drink plenty of fluids following a treatment to help your body flush out toxins released during the massage.
